Firmware Update

Overview

The linux system of the miro Edge gateway and the firmware on the integrated miro EdgeCard can be updated by the user. The following sections will guide you through the updated process.

Warning

This updated procedure is only working on devices shipped with at least firmware version 2.0.0. You can check the firmware version on the integrated web frontend.

Prerequisites

To perform the updated of the miro Edge gateway you need:

Note

Please make sure to use the correct firmware image. Miromico supports both regular LoRaWAN frequencies, and the newer 2.4GHz version.

You also might consider saving the current configuration to restore it after the update. This can be done using the web frontend of the miro Edge Gateway.

Update Procedure

Prepare the USB Stick

  • Download the latest miro Edge firmware image and save it to a USB stick. The USB stick has to be formatted with a FAT32 file system.
  • Copy the image into the root folder of the stick and rename the file to lks7688.img.
  • Remove the stick from your computer and plug it into the USB port of the gateway.

Start the Update

  • With the USB stick plugged into the miro Edge, use a wire (e.g. open paper-clip) to press and hold the reset button.
  • Keep the reset button pressed until the WLAN LED flashes 1 time after about 5 seconds.
  • Release the reset button and wait for the update procedure to complete.
Important

Do not disconnect power while update is in progress.

Complete the Update

The flash file system is updated, and all settings are reset to factory default. The entire update procedure will take about 3 minutes, as the integrated miro EdgeCard is also updated to the latest firmware. Do not remove the USB stick while the update is running.

Once the update is completed, the miro Edge will reboot into the new image and will be accessible through the integrated web frontend to change the gateway configuration, such as LoRaWAN® network server and antenna settings.
